This made FAM the third valve plant to be established within the KSB Group. This corporate initiative marked a significant step as the first post-war foundation abroad. On 1 March 1947, FAM began operations with just nine workers and one employee. Its main focus was on expanding the pump workshop and foundry. FAM not only produced castings for customers, but also expanded its product portfolio in the following years to include the production of raw castings for UNA condensate pots and BOA valves, which were supplied to Frankenthal. These start-ups were of great importance to the KSB Group and helped to strengthen its international presence and open up new sales markets. They also symbolised an important contribution to economic recovery and the promotion of cooperation across national borders in a period of reconstruction after the Second World War.
